At DanceTech UK, every step forward is worth celebrating — whether it’s student success, new classes, or behind-the-scenes progress. While we may not have breaking headlines every week, we’re always working to grow, inspire, and deliver high-quality dance education. This space is where we’ll share milestones, upcoming opportunities, and stories from inside the studio. Stay tuned — exciting things are always in motion.

THANK YOU -National Lottery Community Fund!!

Sometimes you have a dream… and then you realise just how many people it can reach.

When we first became an SQA centre here at Jam Street Studios, we never imagined where it would lead.

From that first step came DanceTech UK, something we created because we truly believed that young people in Ayrshire should have access to recognised dance qualifications and quality dance education, without financial barriers standing in their way.

For the past two years, we have run DanceTech completely voluntarily. We started Year 1 with just 8 young people. In Year 2, that grew to 14. And now, as we head into our third year…

46 talented young people are embarking on their journey towards recognised qualifications in NPA4, National 5 and Higher Dance!!

46 young people with different backgrounds, different ambitions and different dreams, but all with the opportunity to gain something that could genuinely make a difference to their future. For some, this could be the first stepping stone towards a professional career in dance. For others, it could be the qualification that gives them that extra edge when applying for college, university, further education or even walking into an interview.

But for us, it has always been about more than the qualification.

It’s about access. Opportunity. Creativity. Confidence. And believing that where you come from or what your financial circumstances are should never determine what opportunities are available to you.

We have been incredibly fortunate to have the support of AD&CO and Blackwoods Plant Hire, whose sponsorship has helped us with some of the running costs and enabled us to keep building DanceTech UK. We are so grateful for their belief in what we are trying to achieve.

And now we have some truly incredible news…

We have been awarded funding from The National Lottery Community Fund!!!!

Going into our third year, with our numbers growing from 8 to 14 to 46 young people, this funding could not have come at a more vital time. It is a game changer for DanceTech UK and for secondary-aged dancers across Ayrshire. It means we can invest in the resources we need to continue developing our courses, support our young people and, most importantly, continue our dream of making dance education accessible to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity.

We genuinely cannot put into words how much this means to us. We want to say a huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund for believing in DanceTech UK and helping us to make this possible.

And to The Grange Academy, Kilmarnock Academy, St Joseph’s Academy, Loudoun Academy and Stewarton Academy, thank you for supporting our young people and helping us create this pathway for dancers across Ayrshire.

What started as an idea has grown into something so much bigger than we could have imagined.
8 became 14.
14 has become 46.
And this is only the beginning.

To every young person who has chosen to be part of DanceTech UK - we are so proud of you. And to everyone who has supported, sponsored, encouraged and believed in our little dream…thank you.

We are incredibly excited to see where this journey takes these 46 young people.

DanceTech UK Welcomes Over 40 Learners as Courses Begin for 2026/27!!

Our accredited dance courses for 2026–27 have officially begun, with learners from schools across Ayrshire now settling into their training. This year we are proud to welcomes over 40 young people across NPA 4 Dance, National 5 Dance and Higher Dance. Our team of qualified teachers are already delivering technique, choreography and theory sessions in our purpose‑built studios, ensuring every learner receives high‑quality, supportive and inclusive dance education.

What Learners Will Achieve This Term

Learners are now fully underway with their accredited dance training, developing strong technical foundations across Jazz, Lyrical, Commercial, Ballet and Tap. Each style supports different aspects of their progression — from musicality and performance quality to strength, flexibility and control — giving every dancer a well‑rounded skill set.

Alongside their practical classes, learners will work through all course‑required units and assessments, including:

  • Technical Skills Development Building core technique, alignment, strength and safe dance practice across multiple styles.

  • Choreography & Creative Tasks Creating and developing movement phrases, exploring choreographic devices, and responding to set briefs.

  • Performance Skills Improving confidence, musicality, projection and stylistic accuracy in both solo and group work.

  • Theory & Knowledge Understanding safe dance practice, analysing professional works, and completing written tasks required for NPA, National 5 or Higher Dance.

  • Assessment Preparation Supported evidence gathering, rehearsal time, feedback sessions and structured guidance from qualified assessors.

Celebrating Last Year’s Success

We are incredibly proud of our 2025–26 learners, who smashed their results across both NPA 4 Dance and National 5 Dance. We also want to extend a sincere thank you to the local secondary schools who supported us throughout the year. Your trust in DanceTech UK — and in our ability to guide your pupils through their qualifications — made this success possible. Working in partnership with schools across Ayrshire continues to be one of the most rewarding parts of what we do, and we are grateful for your ongoing belief in our learners and our team.
