Susan Kelly is a highly experienced dance educator with a distinguished career spanning over 30 years. Trained in classical ballet, contemporary, and jazz, Susan has taught across Scotland in both private studios and formal education settings. Her expertise lies in curriculum development and assessment preparation, making her an invaluable asset to DanceTech UK’s SQA programme.

​Susan is known for her meticulous approach to technique and her ability to break down complex choreography into accessible learning steps. She has supported  students through successful SQA qualifications, and her commitment to inclusive, high-standard teaching ensures every learner feels confident and capable

Lizzie Craufurd

Dance Educator & Youth Engagement Leader

Assessor

A former pupil of Jam Street School of Dance, Lizzie Craufurd holds an HND in Dance and has been instrumental in delivering accredited programmes to young people across Ayrshire. With over eight years of experience supporting the running of the centre, Lizzie brings a unique blend of lived experience, technical skill, and community insight to her teaching.

Lizzie specialises in engaging secondary school learners, particularly those new to formal dance education. Her sessions are dynamic and inclusive, designed to build confidence while meeting SQA outcomes. She plays a key role in mentoring students through Higher, National 5 and NPA qualifications, often acting as a bridge between creative exploration and academic achievement.

Keira Gilbert – Contemporary Dance Specialist & Teaching Artist

Assessor

Keira Gilbert is a graduate of the Scottish Institute dance degree programme and has been teaching with DanceTech UK for over three years. Her background in contemporary and commercial styles brings a fresh, relevant perspective to the delivery of SQA qualifications. Keira’s choreography is rooted in storytelling and technique, helping students connect emotionally and intellectually with their work.

As a teaching artist, Keira is passionate about creating pathways into further education and careers in the creative industries. She supports learners through practical assessments, reflective practice, and performance preparation, ensuring they meet the demands of SQA standards while developing their artistic voice.

Celebrating Our First National 5 Dance Graduates

In 2024, DanceTech UK proudly launched its first National 5 Dance qualification — and our pioneering group of students rose to the challenge brilliantly. Every candidate passed with flying colours, marking a major milestone for our centre and community.

Led by our expert teaching team — Susan Kelly, Lizzie Craufurd, and Keira Gilbert — the course combined technique, creativity, and academic rigour. Students grew in confidence, developed their artistry, and proved that accredited dance education is thriving in Ayrshire.

This success opens doors to further study and careers in the arts, and we’re already preparing to welcome the next cohort. To our 2024 graduates: you’ve made history, and we couldn’t be prouder.

Rising Stars: Our 2025 DanceTech UK Candidates in Action

This year, DanceTech UK is proud to support a vibrant group of learners currently working towards their NPA Level 4 and National 5 Dance qualifications. Midway through their courses, these young dancers are already showing incredible commitment, creativity, and growth.

Under the expert guidance of Susan Kelly, Lizzie Craufurd, and Keira Gilbert, students are developing technique, exploring choreography, and preparing for assessments with focus and flair.
